CURED

Cured, 2000

A suite of ten prints in an edition of 3

Each print is digitally manipulated from non-photographic sources, and output onto watercolor paper from an Epson Stylus Photo 1200 inkjet printer.

The title concept, Cured, originated in the equivocal nature of pharmaceutical cures, though the images originated in the actual symptoms experienced during disease. Complex syndromes of symptoms often respond to patient-specific drug regimens perfected through intricate drug trials with the patient acting as his own guinea pig. This tedious administration of varying strengths and combinations of drugs carries the dangerous potential to be experienced as worse than the disease, experienced even as pickling fluid, a lethal chemical compote.
